Scalebeck Holiday Cottages

Availability

We have three properties to offer, sleeping from 2 to 4 people.

We are open all year round for holidays and short breaks. Our usual minimum stay is 3 nights but this is temporarily increased to 5 nights due the additional cleaning we need to do to stay covid-safe. However, if there is a gap in the calendar of less than 5 nights that you are interested in, please contact us and we will consider if we  have the time to fully clean before and after your stay.

You are welcome to bring one dog with you if you agree to keep him/her out of the bedrooms and off the furniture. If you have more than one dog please check with us before booking. We ask you keep dogs on a lead outside to avoid disturbing other guests (and the wildlife!) but we do have a field where they can run off-lead. Please be courteous to us and other guests by picking up after your dog. If you have been on a muddy walk you are welcome to use the hose in the yard to wash muddy paws – and we have some old towels if you need them.

We can provide a cot or highchair on request if you are bringing an infant with you. All the properties have a stair gate. Note that ‘The Woodland Cottage’ is the only property with a bath. If you are planning to visit with young children then for safety reasons please be aware that the gas fires have open flames and there is a beck and unfenced pond in the garden (not close to the cottages).

COVID-19 Information

Please DO NOT travel if you have symptoms of Covid-19 (high temperature, new and persistent cough, or loss of taste / smell) – OR – if you are self-isolating. If symptoms develop during your stay you must inform us and we will need to ask you to return home to self-isolate according to NHS and government guidelines. Refunds are given if you need to cancel your stay due to Covid-19.

You can book with confidence!

  • We are offering full refunds if we are forced to close – or you are unable to travel to us due to Covid 19 government restrictions.
  • We have conducted the required risk assessments and received our ‘Good to Go’ accreditation
  • We have additional cleaning procedures and measures in place to keep you and us safe

In order to follow the government guidance:

  • We need to keep a register of guest information including names, address, email address and contact telephone number. If you are uncomfortable sending this information ahead of arrival then we will ask for it when you arrive.
  • In line with current guidance about shared spaces the games room and laundry will be closed and locked. If you do need to do washing during your stay, let us know and we will clear, clean and disinfect the laundry before giving you access.
  • We need to inform you that outside spaces are shared and will not be routinely cleaned but you are welcome to use them. We will provide cleaning products and cloths you can use if you wish to clean any of the outdoor furniture before use.

Things we are doing to keep you safe:

  • We will allow 24 hours between each booking to give us enough time to deep clean and sanitise the cottage between guests.
  • We will leave the windows open for 3 hours to ventilate the property after cleaning and before your arrival.
  • We have temporarily removed non-essential items which cannot be disinfected including cushions, blankets, throws, books, DVDs, tourist information leaflets and instruction manuals – we have provided some laminated information on key information for you instead; and have uploaded lots of tourist information and other guest info for you on this site.
  • We are happy to send you the risk assessment and cleaning protocol if you would like to see it.
  • Usually we provide tea, coffee, milk and sugar and a treat for you to enjoy after your journey – however since we can’t be sure these food items are free from contamination and don’t want to cause un-necessary waste by throwing away unused products or single use sachets we have temporarily withdrawn these items.
  • We will still provide olive oil, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, cleaning supplies, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel since the bottles can be disinfected.

Things you can do to keep us safe when you leave:

  • Remove all left over food items as well as personal items when you leave
  • Empty the rubbish and waste bins and take them to the bin bay along with any recycling
  • Open all the windows to ventilate the cottage before we come in to clean
  • Strip the beds and put the duvet covers, pillow cases, sheets, towels, and kitchen cloths in the laundry bag provided

Charming cottage with fantastic hosts! It is warm and cosy in the cottage and it is our home away from home. Owners are very accommodating and quick to respond. The place is very clean.

Home away from home!! My little family and I (wife, toddler and small dog) were pleasantly surprised when we checked in. The pictures don’t do enough justice to the ambience to the place. It’s nice warm, cosy and clean. Especially after a day of exploring the nearby river and forces. Kay is very responsive and very helpful before and during our stay. She made us feel welcomed and gave us good recommendations for walks and restaurants to try out. Anything that you will need to cook is available. Please note though that there is no salt/ pepper/ sugar/ tea/coffee due to the Covid-19 but has all the crockery if you bring your own. We will definitely be back and with proper rain gear and boots next time.

Perfect place for a workation. WiFi is super fast (wasn’t working the first day but got quickly fixed the next morning) and the space is very comfortable. Near the lake district and the Pennines with many hiking options.

Wonderful airbnb! Clean, very well equipped house. Great to see the red squirrels and deer in the garden. Helpful instructions for everything in the house and hosts available if needed. Perfect fenced off part of the garden for our dog to be off lead too. Great walks from the house and easy access to Pennines, dales and lakes – brilliant location. Lovely time.

The location was gorgeous, we loved the Eden valley, with its hidden tiny villages, cozy pubs and people. We recommend the scalebeck cottage because it is in a right distance to lake district but it gives you the chance to explore even the Eden valley. Kay and Andy were very kind and they gave us a lot of precious tips about the area.

We stayed in The Woodland Cottage and everything was perfect for us. Kay’s attention to detail is outstanding. It’s a peaceful remote location surrounded by fields, ideal for getting away from it all. We would highly recommend this place.

Such a magical place to relax and stay away from the frenetic rhythms of the city. The cottage is beautiful, cosy and immaculate. Kay and Andy have been fantastic hosts, there was a small leak in one of the pipes in the house that was repaired straightaway. If you’re in for a tranquil stay away from everything, than look no further. Expect to be mesmerised by the sounds of nature. We’d love to come again.

Meadow Cottage is located in a beautiful setting with nothing but hills and pastures to be seen from the lounge window. It also has an attractive garden area where you stand a good chance of seeing Red Squirrels. The cottage is very comfortable with a large bedroom and bathroom downstairs. Upstairs has a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and comfortable seating. Positioned in the north west corner of the Yorkshire Dales, it also gives you easy access to the Lake District National Park and North Pennines AONB. We can highly recommend a stay in Meadow Cottage and hope to return ourselves some day in the future.
